This blog was initially intended to be a food blog but as I never felt compelled to write about food, it turned into a blog about self-reflection and personal growth. I love that development and am pleased to have a dedicated outlet to further my emotional well-being. That said, I think I’m ready to talk about food=) .
I currently cater ‘Afternoon Snacks’ for an office of 15-25 people on a daily basis. Monday, Wednesday and Friday I provide a selection of sweet and savory canapé style treats and Tuesday and Thursday I send out breakfast/brunch inspired treats.
I have almost a year of food pics and content to post but am struggling to wade through it all. Below is a snap shot of some of my creations and moving forward I will intend to post one recipe/food write-up a week.
The food needs to be easy to eat in one or two bites, not require a plate or be too messy and be something the employees should look forward to come 3pm. I have unlimited creativity and free reign as to what I make outside of the above rules. So….that’s what I do and this section is a showcase of both my craft and me evolution as a self-taught kitchen-ninja.
Prior to taking this work on I had never really done that much sweet baking. I have always loved to cook and considered myself pretty proficient, but I generally avoided sweets and baking as I hated following recipes and didn’t want to end up consuming all the delicious sugary treats I would be making. Since beginning this journey I have fallen IN LOVE with the craft of pastry and baking and am totally blown away by the science of bread baking. Baking has allowed me to push myself and my skill set in a way that cooking hasn’t yet and it’s been very exciting.
Not everything I endeavour to create works out, I accept that. At first this was very frustrating, I have gotten better at planning my menus and don’t attempt two difficult recipes at once, but generally make one thing I know I can achieve and another to push myself a bit. When I first started things would not work out and I would cry and give up, now I roll with the punches (or the dough) and find I can almost always improvise and get something tasty out the door, even if it’s not what I originally intended.
So, in a different way this section is still all about growth and progression. The blog is called ‘Next Level Goodness’ and ultimately it’s all about progression and development, reaching the next level be it in emotional intelligence, bread making or cupcakery….
Follow My Journey as I take traditional treats and canapés to the next level…
DISCLAIMER – I am not a photographer and I’m not really trying to be one, so please forgive my often shawdy photos, the next section I add will need to be dedicated to levelling up my photography skills…for now I can only tackle one craft at a time!
